FriNJE
Our Friday Night Jazz Ensemble is full of the best improv the university has to offer, with a cool mix of jazz, swing and funk.
FriNJE is a collective of university students that, at its core, flourish slick improvisation with powerful, resonant horn riffs and audaciously juggles with styles of traditional jazz, old-school funk and unique covers of currently-trending popular music.
The band showcases a diverse range of music from inspirational artists such as Herbie Hancock, Ray Charles, Duke Ellington and Stevie Wonder. FriNJE are notorious for their flexibility in being able to provide relaxed jazz instrumentals for events that are more reserved by nature but are equally as confident in playing up-beat, groovy funk tunes for events such as balls and weddings that audiences enjoy to dance to.
Like all of the MPS ensembles, FriNJE is non-auditioned and new members are always welcome. If you are interested in joining, please visit our Facebook group.
Rehearsals: Fridays, view up-to-date rehearsal timings.
